You have to learn to laugh at yourself!

Ok, I'm sharing this with you purely for entertainment value for you and to prove why I haven't posted any pictures. Last week I was at work and as I was talking to my co-worker, she commented on how good I looked and how my face was still thin and hadn't blown up too much and that I didn't look like I had gained too much weight. I was happy with those comments and as I turned away from her to leave, she gasped, "Oh My Gosh, NOW I SEE WHERE YOU HAVE GAINED THE WEIGHT!!!". I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I mean, surely men think that, but there's no way a WOMAN would actually ever say that to another woman out loud, right???? If the guys weren't laughing so loudly, you may have even been able to hear my astonishment. :)

7 months!

Wish me Happy Anniversary!! Today David and I have been married 7 months! My co-worker pointed out that I'm 3 months pregnant and only married 7 months! Yea, so I'm a quick study. When you're my age, you want to have babies before you're too old to pick them up (name that movie!!!). :)

Appointment #2

Pretty much the same as appointment #1. Just went over my lab work, everything looks good. Heard the baby's heartbeat again. Then sent me on my way. Have to go for more lab work, a sugar test for diabetes. Next Appt. June 22nd. And the best news is that I've only gained one pound :)

Anniversary

I was baptized 26 years ago today. That sounds so funny that I've been baptized longer than my husband has been alive. Just gave me a good chuckle this morning and I wanted to share :)

Second Trimester

Today is our official first day of the second trimester (according to the internet) :) I have been feeling a bit better most of the time, so I'm excited to be feeling even mo' better soon. David and I are still working on evening up the paint so that we can move forward with buying our new furniture. It will be nice to have an organized house again. Depending on which website you believe, the baby is now between 2 and 3.5 inches long. All her teeth are formed. Yes, I said "her". We don't know the gender yet, but I don't like calling my baby an "it". I call the baby a "her" and David calls the baby a "him", so it all evens out. She is even able to suck her thumb by this time. We thought of another good name this week, so it's nice to have more choices. Maybe we will wait until she comes out to see which name fits the best :)

Mother's Day

Today was my first Mother's Day since I am carrying a little life inside of me. I went to Clearwater to spend with my family. I received cards and presents as a mommy-to-be. At Church they were handing out flowers to all the mothers, and the girl came up to me to offer me one, and I said, "It's still in my tummy, does that count?". She said, "Of course it counts!". Still hasn't sunk it yet though. :)

"Primer"

My wonderful husband did all the hard part of moving the furniture out of the bedroom, so I figured I would do the easy part of finishing up the painting. This is just the primer. We still have 2 coats of the real stuff to go. But, to help everyone, including us, appreciate how good it looks when we're done, let's take a look at it now... the "before" picture. :)

New Club

Tonight David and I were invited over for games/fun at a friend's house. There were 4 couples present and we were the only ones without a child under the age of 2. As I looked around the room, I noticed the difference between hanging out with "parents" and hanging out with my other friends who aren't parents yet. I realized that David and I would soon be joining the "parenthood" rank and these 6 people would most likely be our new circle of friends as we would have less in common with our current newlywed buddies and we would become the ones that "had to get home to relieve the babysitter". I remember thinking how lame that excuse was, but the more time passes, the more I understand. I feel like Heavenly Father is extending to me a new calling. But, different than the rest, this will be the most important calling of my life. As with the other callings, I bring basically no skills to the table, but trust and know that Heavenly Father will endow me with all the traits and qualities I need to bring one (or however many) of his children into this world and then raise them the best way David and I know how. That is the gift we can give back to God for this wonderful gift He is giving to us.

Lab Work #1 Today

Today I went to have the first set of lab work done for the pregnancy. I guess the lady didn't realize I had two sets of tests to perform, because she stuck me once and said, "You're all set". I said, "No, there's another sheet of tests". She said, "Oops, I'm sorry, I will have to stick you again". I figured that. Well, one of the tests was for HIV, so she had to go back to the front office and get a consent form for me to sign, and then came back in and had me sign in and then took it back to the front office. Then stuck me again, in the same vein, and took 4 more vials. Usually it doesn't hurt when I get lab work done, but I guess getting stuck twice brings on some pain. Hopefully it will subside soon. I'm beginning to see what a low tolerance of pain I must have (wimpy wimpy wimpy, eventhough I'm starting to look Hefty Hefty Hefty). She said the results should be in within 3 days, so we'll wait for the results. They are testing for Cystic Fibrosis, HIV, and a Prenatal Profile, which I believe is Hep B, Iron and some other tests. And the doctor wrote in for a "Varicella Igg" test. I'm not really sure what it is, but the internet says that "Varicella" is another word for Chicken Pox. Interesting :)
