My Own Rising Star

I can't tell you how great last night was!!! What a birthday present!! We went to Universal Studio's Rising Star which is a karaoke place where instead of singing just to a track, there is actually a LIVE band and even backup singers. David was amazing!!! He was the first one to get the crowd really going and excited about the evening! I only recorded the beginning because I just wanted to sit and listen and enjoy and rock out to the rest of the song. I think he has some groupees now. Everyone was coming up to him telling him how awesome he did! The only thing that would have been better is if he was able to go up there more than once, but there were just too many people there. Thank you to everyone who came with us, it sure meant a lot to me (this means you too J&J)! I can't tell you how cool it was that the hot singer up on stage belonged to me!! When does that ever happen??? :)

For Aunt Shelli

Sorry these are so dark, we are still working on fixing the light fixture.

1st Time Firing a Gun

After spending Christmas morning with my parents in Clearwater, we traveled to Trenton, FL to David's Aunt Mae's house. After dinner they decided they wanted to go outside and shoot cans. Some of you know that I absolutely despise guns and I'm pretty afraid of them to. Right before my mission, the little brother of a close friend of mine shot and killed himself while playing russian roulette with his 9 year old cousin. I was afraid of guns before that, but it just sealed the deal for me and I vowed I would never own one or have one in my house. But, to try to lessen my fears, I figured I would try it out. Here are some pics and even a video. The video is of when I first walked outside. The first pic is Aaron explaining the gun to me and how to fire it. You can tell I look a bit timid. Then David tries to show me how to lock my right arm. Then the photographer (Steve) captured a great picture of my expression as the gun fired.

12 month checkup!

Katelyn had her 12 month checkup today (yes, I know she will be 13 months old on Wednesday, but we decided at the last minute to go away for the weekend for her birthday, so we had to cancel that appointment, and this is the earliest they could get her in). Explanation included because a couple of people have enjoyed teasing me today about being a bit behind. Anyway, Dr. said she is doing just perfect. She is 22.5 pounds and 30.8” long. He warned me that she will be getting her molars in soon and that I don’t need to call him to tell him that she’s crying all night, I just need to relax and know she’s teething. :) Good thing we are all stocked up on teething tablets. I took the 2nd picture (from my last post) and made it my desktop background at work. I know I’m biased, but she just looks so cute and meek in this picture. :) It’s my new favorite picture. I feel like I should put it on a blue background with little stars and teddy bears as the border. Did I tell you how much more fun/festive/in the spirit I am this Christmas season now that I have this beautiful little girl that responds and smiles and laughs? She will always be my favorite Christmas present! Well... until our next 8 children come along.

Such innocence!

Putting Up the Tree and Lights

David asked me when I wanted to put up the Christmas tree. I got all excited and said "As Soon As Possible!!!" I think he was surprised by my excitement, and I guess I was too. It is just amazing how much more exciting Christmas is when you have a baby!! We only got the tree up and put the lights on it so far... we're wiped out! (and no worries, no toddlers were hurt in the making of these videos).

Katelyn loves boxes and to discover what's in them.

Katelyn wanted to eat the lights, so we'll have to watch her every minute!

Big Birthday Weekend!

What a great birthday weekend!! (For me, but hopefully for her too since it was HER birthday, not mine). Saturday we had a family birthday party. Then, Saturday night I drove back to Clearwater with my mom and we spent some time with Granddaddy and Grammi. Then on Sunday we got to see some of my high school friends, which is always fun! Then we drove to a hotel on the beach and spent the night. Today was her actual birthday!! She woke up around 6am, drank her bottle, then went back to sleep right between Mommy and Daddy in the big King Size bed for another couple of hours. That was a treat for her since I'm too scared to let her sleep with us. Then we went downstairs to have breakfast in the hotel where the ladies gave her a balloon and a stuffed cookie man. Then off to St. Petersburg to the Pier and walked around and went to the top to see the view of the bay. Then we came back to Orlando and she played with her birthday toys. Then we both took a nap from 4:30 - 7:30!! I think that was her present to Mommy! Then our neighbors came over and dropped of a birthday card and then we played and played and around 10pm she crawled over to me and put her head on my chest, so I put her down and she went down without a peep (that happens about 1% of the time). So, I think she had a good first birthday!

Her birthday hat!

Digging in!

Having fun!

The Pier was too much for her and wore her out I guess.

The view from our hotel.

Opening Presents

1st Birthday Party !!

Here are some pictures from Katelyn's 1st Birthday party. I love the ones with David in them... handing her the cupcake and then behind her... oh how I love seeing them together! Does that sound as dumb as I think it does? Hopefully some of you will know what I mean though. I will also post some pictures later of her actual birthday where I have video of her eating the cupcake!

Getting Ready for her 1st birthday party!

Our families are coming over today to celebrate Katelyn's first birthday (Nov 17), so I figured I would let her get some energy out so that I could put her down for a nap (which she is taking now) so that she'll be all refreshed and happy (not that she is ever cranky...haha) and we can all have a fun party! Yep, she's still playing with her birthday gift from Aunt Shelli! I took her outside so that she didn't have to keep running into walls.

Katelyn's first 1st birthday present!

Katelyn started playing with it before I could even get all the parts out of the box. She was even more thrilled when I turned on the sound! She's been pushing it all around the house, sometimes on her knees, sometimes standing. The first video is long and the second one is short.

Pumpkin Punkin!

Drumroll please.... here is the result of the Pulvers first family pumpkin carving!

Chocolate Chunk Pumpkin Bread

Here's a picture of the Chocolate Chunk Pumpkin Bread I slaved away making tonight from the pumpkin we carved. David took it out of the oven about 5 min ago, so we are waiting for it to cool. If only it tastes half as good as it smells. Yummm..... (I hope). David doesn't like pumpkin, so I guess Becky, Katelyn and I will have to eat it all... oh darn.

Carving Time

Here's us carving the pumpkin. It was so much fun. I felt like a little kid. I even clapped for myself :) My video isn't uploading so you'll have to wait to see the final product.
