Teacher

Ok, so I hope this isn't bragging, but I have to tell you a story. My visiting teacher came over tonight, and she asked her daughter if she wanted to come with her. Her daughter looked at her with a confused look and said, "Why would I want to come with you?". And her mom said, "Because I'm visiting your primary teacher, Sister Pulver". So, she got all excited and came with her and as we were talking, she asked me where I worked. I told her and then Hayley (her daughter) says, "and you also work at Church". I said, "That's right, I'm also a teacher". And her mom said, "What kind of teacher is she?" and Hayley said, "The BEST teacher". Isn't that sweet??? :)

Dream

I had a dream last night about KitKat (our nickname for the baby). I was looking at her (yes, it was a girl in my dream) and she was about 3 months old, and I didn't realize she had been born. I didn't remember having her and I was wondering who had been feeding her all these three months because I knew it wasn't me. They say you have weird dreams when you're pregnant :)

It's Official!

Just got back from my visit to Dr. White. She confirmed my pregnancy and said I was 4 weeks and 5 days along. The due date was either Nov 25 or 26, I can't remember, guess I was too nervous. Doesn't really matter anyway, since most babies aren't born on their due dates. I'm just going to tell everyone "around Thanksgiving" and leave it at that. She said my "growing/stretching" pains were normal and to eat 7 small meals a day to avoid morning sickness, though she seemed pleased that I hadn't experienced that yet. She gave me a prescription for prenatal vitamins and took a quick test for disease and gave me some paperwork and sent me on my way. She also told me to avoid hot tubs, large fish, and deli meats. Interesting! Guess I'll have to be cooking my ham and turkey before I eat it now! Next appt: Apr 25th.

Taxes Filed Jointly

I did our taxes this weekend. We get $1400 more filing jointly than separately, how cool is that? The money will come in handy with all the new fun stuff we'll need to buy. It wasn't like when I got married and already had the house setup and didn't really need anything. I have NOTHING ready for this beautiful baby that is coming to live with us soon, so much to buy and I don't even know where to start. I guess diapers are a good place to start, I could start stocking up on them each time I grocery shop. I guess I'll find out the official due date tomorrow at my appointment :)

Whew!

I worked at the Temple today and ran into my friend, Andrea. She is due on 11/16/07, so we're only about a week apart. I asked her who her doctor was, and she goes to the same place I'm going to go to! I was so relieved to hear that it was a good place! I had just chosen it because it was close, covered by my insurance, had good reviews on ratemd.com and they looked really nice on their website. I'm so grateful to hear from someone I actually know that I picked a good place though. Hopefully we will see each other there from time to time. I was working in the Youth Center at the Temple with a few kids. One of them asked me if she could sit on my lap and rock with me in the rocking chair. Hmm... I might be able to handle being a mom after all.

To Eat or Not To Eat

So, I got up this morning and made some muffins for David and I. But when they came out of the oven, I just stared at them and the thought of eating one just made me queasy. He asked me if I was going to eat, and I just said, "I don't think so". I didn't want to eat anything actually. So, when I got to work, I drank a Slim-Fast just to try to get something in and I figured it had some vitamins and minerals... 24 to be exact! Then I had some crackers. Why didn't I have no appetite when I wasn't pregnant?? :) Tonight he's going to watch the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie with Justin, so I told him no thanks, so maybe I'll relax and watch a chick flick :) Also, last night I went to Enrichment and two of the moms of the children I teach in Primary came up to me all excited about how happy their children are to have me as a teacher. In fact, one of them told me that she has had a hard time even getting him to go to Church, and now he's excited to go to class. :)

Where's the pictures?

We want to see pictures of your progress. No pictures of morning sickness, please!

Pain, Not Nausea

Well, luckily I haven't been feeling nausea. I do feel pain though, but I would take this pain over nausea any day. Whenever I try to bend at my waist, it feels like there is a brick in the way. So I get a sharp pain everytime I bend. It feels like my stomach is now a hard mass. I told David that if I find out on Monday that I'm not really pregnant, he'll have to send me to a pyschiatrist since in my head my body does feel different. I bought some maternity clothes today because I found some on sale at JcPenney. I really like the black dress with a tie. Seems like it will fit me from now until the day I deliver. I don't need shirts yet, but since they were on sale, I went ahead and splurged on myself for once. Congratulations are coming in from all over the country. It's a very exciting time!

Told My Boss Today

Today at lunch we actually added some items to the registry. It was overwhelming to walk into the Babies-R-Us and see all the items you need for something so small. Then back at work, I finally told my boss. Poor thing. To think my co-worker is only one month ahead of me and she is having twins. I think he was a bit overwhelmed to have 2 out of his 11 employees out on maternity leave. That's 18% of his staff :) He was geniunely happy for both of us. I made a deal with him that I would try to put in a few hours a day when I was on leave if he would extend my leave by that many hours. He said it was a good idea and that we'd talk about it more down the road. I pointed out to him that I would be on leave during the year end, which is a rough time for our company, so he seemed satisfied that I was willing to be a team player. I'm still feeling great and actually got my wedding rings on this morning :)

Registries

Today we set up registries at Target and Babies-r-us. Of course there's nothing selected yet because I have no idea where to even start, but we'll get there. Too bad we won't know the gender for 4 more months, that would make it so much easier to decide on a theme. Of course you all know it will be a Superman theme if it's a boy. David wants a boy, of course, and I really don't care either way. Maybe it will even be a supergirl theme if it's a girl, though I'm not even sure if they have that theme available. Maybe we'll just have no theme and make it easy :) I still feel great with no symptoms so far (everyone knock on wood as they read this). I think I've told just about everyone with the exception of most of my co-workers (3 of them know).
